Books of the Month
Julia Donaldson
This month’s featured author is Julia Donaldson who is an author of SO many phenomenal books, she is my one of my go to recommendations to friends and family. Just take a look at the the amazing artwork on her book covers, below, and you’ll see why I love her too. As my child is transitioning from baby to toddler, we are also transitioning the books we read. Our son needs longer storylines, character development, and (of course) great learning opportunities. Julia Donaldson provides all of this and more!
Here are additional books I’ve used to incorporate purposeful play into my child’s development. I hope you enjoy them!
I need to get in all of the squishes and hugs that I can. This book is precious and gives me an opportunity to snuggle my son!
“I’m the buffalo fluffalo, I heave and I huffalo!” Sounds like a toddler - right?
I love how this book shows a little kid all of the different ways to say I love you.
Learning to read is a huge milestone! Our son is starting to say the alphabet, at just 2-years-old. I can’t wait until he can learn to read!
I’m just obsessed with this book. It is INSANELY creative, the pictures are lovely, and it brings a smile to everyone’s face.
Rocket, you are such an adorable dog. You are teaching my son the alphabet!
Oh… all of the things I wish for you. There are so many that it is hard to even start. This book is excellent at capturing wishes!
An interesting twist on the concept of “mine” and “yours.” Any book that has a mouse in it will have a twist ending!
Surprisingly, our son loves to brush his teeth. We have read books by Jane Clarke and I really think that has helped!
